The all-new 2012 European market Honda Civic is set to launch at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show but Honda decided it would preview the new hatch to its fans a bit early.
Following in the footsteps of its similarly daring predecessor, the new Euro Civic features a much more radical design than its North American brethren. Honda said that its designers wanted to keep the Civic as sporty as possible, while featuring a “more elegant, yet dynamic feel.” Honda said that most of the design of the new five-door hatch was inspired by ‘blended wind body’ aircraft, which is an airplane where the wings and fuselage blend into one, like the B-2 Spirit bomber.
Honda said that the other main focus for the European market 2012 Civic was to focus on ride and handling, while still improving the vehicle’s NVH ratings. We’ll have more details on what Europeans can find under the hood when the Civic is officially unveiled tomorrow, but it’s a safe bet a version of the CDTi turbodiesel will make an encore appearance on the Continent. The 2012 Honda Civic will hit European dealerships in early 2012.
